Shortly after I moved in, there was a power failure late in the evening. I lit a candle and while sitting and staring at it, I had the impulse to see if I could clear my mind of all thought. I discovered that I could for very short spurts. I knew this was an aspect of meditation and committed myself to cultivating this skill. Everything went deeper from then on. I began to receive constant opportunities related to Tibetan Buddhism, the teachings and practice of meditation. Through very close friends who were essential significant spirit guides, I was introduced to monks, Rimpoches, events with extremely committed people for the Tibetan cause and learned much of the Dalai Lama and Tibetan Buddhist teachings.
